Earth Day

Since today was Earth Day, I am posting this to hold myself accountable to actually use one of the MANY reusable bags I have stacked on top of the refrigerator.
They aren't doing me any favors sitting there, and I am going to attempt to find a "home" in my car so I can easily take them into the grocery store with me.  The problem is, my car is already full enough since my work office technically is my vehicle (to say the least).  Let's be honest, I don't have any other excuse and it's probably just laziness, so I will get to using em' :)

Do you use a reusable grocery bag and if so what's your strategy to actually USE it?!?!

Look for a "Chicobag". They fold up into a super small little pouch that you can keep in your purse! They're waterproof, durable, and are a great size. They come in lots of colors, too!

I love using mine! There are so many cute ones! I keep a few in the car and a few on hooks in the garage. Whenever it's grocery day and I grab our list, I've trained myself to grab some extra bags.

You can do it :)

I love using my reusable bags! They are so much more durable and hold a ton more than the plastic bags you get at the store. I keep mine on a hook next the refrigerator. After we make our shopping list, my husband and I grab the bags and head out the door. We used to forgot them all the time! It just takes some time to make it into a habit. Good luck!

I always forget my reusable bags! I have them in the coat closet (weird, I know)...but I am going to place them in the trunk of my car when I get home so they're always with me!

I use mine for the local grocery store. I keep them in the trunk of my car and always make sure as soon as I empty them I put them back. It works pretty well, some times I still forget.

I use mine, but somtimes forget them... the best system I ahve come up with, is as soon as I empty them I take them to my SUV and put them in the back, so I will have them ready for the next trip to the store. Hope this helps!

I could so lie right now and say I always use these, but I dont =(
I have them--I'm the bad one who never puts them in the car so I always forget--oops!

I got so on board with this that I actually bought four X-large LL Bean Boat and Totes, had "Groceries" embroidered on them, and have yet to use them. I'm terrible!

I have some too...and they are just sitting in my closet. Haha. No help there. Let me know if you find a good system to use! xoxo.

I am no help because I also have like 20 of the bags and always forget them when I need them! It drives my hubby crazy!!! :)

I keep a ton of them in my car, that way if I use a few and don't take them back out to the car I've got another one in there for the next shopping visit.

I have a few, but need a couple more and just need to put them in the car. Otherwise I forget to grab them when I go grocery shopping.

I have one or two...but to be honest...we reuse our plastic bags as "doggy bags." If I didn't get them at the store, I'd just have to buy some so it kind of defeats the purpose don't you think?

I keep my bags in the car so I have them when I shop. That being said, sometimes I forget to put them back in the car. Those reusable bags aren't the best for spur of the moment shopping but I try. Can I get credit for that?

I use them! I just keep them in my car and then when I run to the store they are already there! I think that they are WAY moer convenient that disposable bags and fit way more things :)

I use Chicco bags because they fold up really small and are always in my purse that way I have one on hand when I need it, without having to plan ahead!

I keep mine in the trunk or on the door knob so that I can't walk out the door and forget them. Vera Bradley made a great little 2 pack folded up kind, when they are folded they fit effortlessly into a purse so you always have them and they are so pretty you cant help but use them!

I keep them in the back seat of my car. It was hard to get used to it, but over the past few years I've made it a habit and they're so much easier to carry things with! After unloading groceries I just put them next to the door to put in my backseat the next time I drive.

I have the same bag! :)

I keep them in two places- a few in the car so that I have them if I just run to the store unexpectedly, and a few more in the hall closet by the front door so that, if I KNOW I'm going to go the store, I just grabe them too.

Yes! I had this same problem too. So now what I do is keep a couple in my car. Then after I bring up the groceries, bring a couple more down to the car again. Hope this helps! Happy Friday!

I do use reusable bags for grocery shopping. I try to leave them in my car, but I hate running back out to deposit them once I've unpacked after a grocery run. So, I tuck them into the coat rack in my mud room, so I pass them when I leave, and that reminds me to either stow them back in my car, or grab them the next time I hit the supermarket.

Morgan posted another great idea yesterday: using these lovely totes for ALL of your shopping! Clothing, books, shoes, beauty supplies, pet supplies, the options are endless! I, too, am going to try to use these bags for more than just the grocery store!

I thing the kkep-'em-in-the-car idea is great. Although I've never done this mind you. I always tell myself, it's okay, I'll remember to bring them next time.

Under a seat might be a good option, or maybe in the trunk.

I keep them in my car, at least one is there all times. I also make sure to grab a few when I know I'm going to the store(I have one that's insulated that I got for free at Sam's one time for cold stuff). It takes a little while to make it a habit but it's worth it in the long run since some stores give you a discount if you bring your own bags :)

Whole Foods has a great one that folds up into itself so you can just keep it in your purse or glove compartment! 9 times out of 10 I forget the ones in my kitchen, so their little guy is a life (planet?) saver. :)

I try to use mine but I always forget them in the car

That's great Kelsey - I am going to make more of an effort to use my own bag when I go grocery shopping. I think it a great idea and I think more people should care about the earth. Great post love, glad you brought up Earth Day! :)

I put them in my car and then forget them when I'm done shopping whoops.. Then if I use them I forget to put them back in the car..

I am so bad about this...have dozens of reuseable bags but never remember to use them. Thanks for the reminder.
Happy weekend!

I use them and love them because they fit WAY more than plastic or paper! I keep them in my secret compartment in my car so they aren't in the way.

Michelle said...

I don't use them but for the same reasons as you listed...no room in my car. I can't wait to find out what ideas you end up suggesting!

Keep them in the car!!

I'm so bad.. but I only have like 2 reusable bags. I tend to just plastic it, and Buck and I reuse for lunches until they are ripped to shreds. Not the best, eco-friendly move.
I need to get better-- but I like Rachel's idea of buying the cute ones and doing hook storage.
I would probably put them in the pocket behind the passenger side seat though for car storage! :)

Happy Weekend, girl!

yes I do, I got some SUPER cute damask ones and leave them in our trunk. We grocery shop on Sundays every week and I never forget them. Once you empty them or wash them just put them in your car! :-)

thought the exact same thing last night when I saw a girl loading her's up while checking out. Once I actually get them in my car, maybe I will use them :)

I have some leopard ones and one monogrammed (gift) - I think that my groceries are most fashionable, love it!

I use them and just keep them in my trunk, but I don't have much else back there. Good luck finding a spot for them!
