I haven't shared my fear of cats with many people .....
but it has been out in the open this past month or so since I have been asked to CAT-SIT not once but
TWICE!!!
I never grew up around cats.
I have a complete fear of cats (even kittens).
I assume cats will stare me down, pounce, and attack
Like this .....
My experience last month left me in a panic calling girlfriends to teach me how to call/find the cat that was completely MIA. Then once I found the kitty, I was terrified hearing it cry under the bed and was scared to lift the dust ruffle because I thought it would kill me. The kitty had a few tummy problems and was acting out, but it seems the the poor thang' was having separation anxiety from his mommy.
This week, my girlfriend went to TX and convinced me Bella was less like a cat and more like a dog, so I told myself I could handle her. WELL, tonight was a big night for me because Bella and I totally bonded. I was less timid, and I think Bella caught that vibe. Yay for not being so scared!!!!
AND, I cleaned out my first litter box in my entire life, haha!
After Googling images for this lovely litter box above,
I found a picture of this fancy box.
Gabe and I emailed our friends, Tyler and Channah, who LOVE cats and told them this was their early Christmas present from us. We said we are going to buy several of these and fill them with cats at our place, and told them we will only let the cats out when they come over to visit so they will feel more comfortable.
HAHAHAH! We so funny :)

That has to be the weirdest litter box ever! ha Yay for being over your fear :)
I need to look into cute litter boxes like that for my little kitty! Happy Wednesday!
Too funny, girl! :) lol .. I was raised around cats but.. I think I'll stick with my sweet puppy!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
That first cat does look a little fierce! I am slightly afraid of them too, they're so unpredictable!
ROTFL Glad you survived.
wow I totally agree! cats are so creepy! I hate how the creep up next to you when your sitting on the couch and then all of a sudden jump up on you!
wow you are a super friend for actually looking after peoples cats even if you hate them!
that litter box is brilliant... but who wants their loungeroom smelling of kitty litter?! thats the one thing i cannot handle about pet cats!! i love them and feed them but the kitty litter is TOO FAR!
enjoy your kitty bonding time. soon you might wake up with it snuggling you :)
I have a love/hate relationship with cats...yay on conquering your fear! xoxo
We had a house cat for years that my momma was just in love with. We all were...but we have these strays that hang around and some days they just get on my last nerve. So happy you got over your fear! xo
haha I love cats, but they can be a bit creepsters!
Haha! I absolutely hate cats! I am scared of them too...for some reason I always think they are going to just pounce right on me and scratch the crap out of me!
It's sad, but usually cat's that have been abandoned or abused act like that. :-( Most cats are completely harmless. Good job on conquering your fear!
Oh, I had a hard time cat-sitting once too! The cat scared me out of the house! LOL! Luckily, it didn't traumatize me for life! I don't mind cats, but I'm allergic to them, so I could never have one.
I'm happy with my Lhasa!
That's a pretty clever idea...the fancy litter box. I don't know why, but for some reason, I have always loved cats--especially kittens until they get scared and start clawing up your neck--now that, I don't love.
Cats aren't as scary as they look.
Cats freak me out...they seem so devious and sneaky!
OH MAN, you know I DON'T DO CATS anymore... haha i'm good with my dog(s) - we may be adding to the family soon!! :) but am proud of you for getting over your fear, nevertheless...
I have a friend (jeni) who's litter box is literally in a kitchen cabinet, they retrofitted it with a little cat door so the cat goes in their (out of sight/smell) to do his business. so funny how would you like peeing in a pitch black box. cats are weird..
I'm not a cat person either, plus I'm highly allergic to them. I'm glad your cat-sitting experience went well though!
I'm not a cat person. When I was younger I was terrified of cats, my cousin had 2 and I thought they were like dogs... you know, couldn't jump on the couch if I was trying to get away from them. I WAS WRONG! I was scared of dogs too.
Now I have a dog AND a cat. My dog I'm not afraid of at all but I'm still scared of cat, she was feeling playful one night and I ended up was a gash down my calf. And it was bleeding. It bothers me how sharp their teeth and claws are. Dog nibbles and scratches I can deal with but not cats! I love her to bits, but I try to stay away from her especially if she's hyper. You can see it in their eyes!
I have to admit, taking pictures of her yawning is my favorite thing to do, they make the weirdest faces lol.
Good for you! I'm not a huge cat fan, either! I think they are just weird!
I have the SAME fear!!! Literally you described it perfectly! Hehe, I get scared looking at pictures of cats even! I'm glad you bonded with her :) XOXOXO
yay for facing your fear! I've never been a huge fan of cats either.
I'm not a huge cat person either because they're just so unpredictable. I'm glad you were able to get over your fear though!
And that is one creative litter box lol
O funny! All your pictures made me laugh. The scary cat is indeed that, scary! I have a bit of a cat phobia as well - I just don't get them! But good for you for being all cat sittery and cleaning out a box and everything!!
hahahah i think if you dont grow up with cats you dont like them. we personally have one and love him *well my hubby is still trying to get used to him*
and the litter box, I think i saw that in one of the "sky-mall" magazines or whatever it is on airplanes :) very interesting
lol-I'm definitely more of a dog person then cat person, but I do think kitten are adorable!
Ha ha that box is fantastic, I like how it blends in with your surroundings! Don't feel bad, I have a terror of most dogs, minus the dog I want, aka a Doxie or Maltese. A dog killed my bunny when I was young so ever since then I have an instant fear. Glad you are trying to make the kitties more comfy in your house!
Yuck. cats. enough said. Kudos to you for braving it though!
