I've Learned

One of the MANY reasons I love my husband is for his positive outlook on life!  I can honestly say, Gabe gives the best advice, steps back and gives an unbiased opinion, and is an overall a genuine good-guy.  He sent me a link this evening, which is kind of ironic because I swear he's said a few of these before :)

From Stumbleupon.com

I've Learned-
that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I've learned-
that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

I've learned-
that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned-
that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.

I've learned-
that you should never ruin an apology with an excuse.

I've learned-
that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned-
that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do.

I've learned-
that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I've learned-
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned-
that you can keep going long after you can't.

I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I've learned-
that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I've learned-
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

I've learned-
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I've learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned-
that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned-
that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I've learned-
that people will forget what you said, and people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

****Which ones is most applicable to your life?

Wow that is an incredible list, its hard to chose one! I think that I have learned that we choose our attitude, or it controls you. If we don't take responsibility...we lose control!

I needed this girl :)

It's a good thing we have him around to be older and wiser! :) I loved these sister. My favorite is the one about leaving loved ones with loving words....How true that is. LOVE YOU!

Your hubs sounds just like mine. He is my rock and always knows exactly what to say to me. I always feel so spaced out. Ha! He's the calm and collected one in the relationship, at which I am thankful for. ;)

I love this one! The one about anger and cruelty is really applying to my life right now. It is SO hard not to seek revenge on those that have done you wrong. Thanks for posting this!

Love them all!! The one I love most is never leave loved ones without kind words. I have seen my cousin struggle with that the past 2 years since my uncle has passed.

Unfortunately, today, the trust one hit me like a ton of bricks. SO unbelievably true. Once it's gone, it's gone.

I definitely follow the "leave loved ones with loving words". I'm the one that always says "be careful" whenever I leave a loved one. Thanks for sharing these!

Sounds like you have a pretty awesome catch. I love all those quotes and I think they all mean something in my life.

I also wanted to tell you that I have a boy studying aboard at Rutgers (why hes studying aboard here, idk??) but hes an Ausie!! My grandmother is from Australia and I have family still living there but I've never been. But... I read all your posts about your trip and how awesome it looked that I went off of your trip, info and pictures when talking to him!
I've always wanted to go but after your trip I want to go ASAP!

I love this one "that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that." I have definitely had to work on not taking things so personally and that quote sums it up!

How did I not know about your blog before now? You are adorable.

...that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

That is so applicable to me. It's taken me years to finally be the person I want to be.

These are so positive!!! My fiancée is just like your Gabe. I am the pessimist one of the two. He brings me back up with his sound advices. In fact, now he just tells me not to think and listen to him when I am all confused. And you know what, he always knows the right and the best for me :)
