Hee-Hum!

I am a pharmaceutical representative, and part of our day to day consists of bringing lunch to clinics so we can share with new data and updates on our medications, ways to get prescriptions pushed through easier, and give valuable information for clinicians to stay up to date on treatment options. It's a generous thing for us to do as if allows for more time in the offices to speak with providers, office staff, etc. Lunches are a great way to get to know an office better and normally a really enjoyable part of my day.

With that being said, today was not the case. Since when are nice gestures not enough, and expectations have skyrocketed through the roof?! The variety of sandwiches, salad, chips, bread, cookies, mixed beverages, and let me remind you FREE was not quite sufficient enough.

Instead I got reminded by staff members under their breath:
1.) Aww you didn't get soup, we love Panera's soup this time of year.
2.) There are only two of the tuna sandwiches.
3.) Is there any pop?
4.) The cookies are smaller this time, and they even burned them.

It is very unlikely for me to create an entire post regarding a situation I need to vent about ... AND now I'm over it!

People should be grateful for what you bring. I hate when people "expect" so much. So rude! You're doing a fab job!

I think it gets way out of hand. But at our place we are very grateful when we get delivered food.

So rude. I would have just packed up and taken my non soup, burnt cookie, two tuna fish sandwich lunch home and let those ungrateful jerks go with out! But, I probably wouldn't be a good pharm rep though! :)

That stinks. I'm sorry. I would take a free lunch any day and be completely happy about it!! Hope tomorrow is better for you!

How very rude! It must have felt so sick to have anything with them! How did you react? Straight-faced or a dry smile?

No worries...I'm sure this is just one of those days when you meet such people....rest will all be sunny, happy days!

That would make me CRAZY! I'm ma meeting planner and when people come in and complain about food it infuriates me. I'm like, IT'S FREE!!! (To YOU! Not to ME!)

Natasha said...

bless your heart!!! people will ALWAYS complain--so rude!! you can bring me sandwiches and coke any day and i promise not to complain sweetie ;)

Exactly the reason why I hate our school's positive reinforcement system. We are required to reward our students for doing things they SHOULD be doing. Why should I give candy to students who help another student pick up something that they dropped? Grr.. and these students will turn out like those you just wrote about. So sorry you had an experience like this!

Wow! Talk about ungreatful! We love "lunch and learns" at my office. Who complains about free food?! Geez!

Wow, people are just so rude sometimes!

I totally wonder about people some time. While some are, indeed, thankful it just seems like having something be "free" brings out the worst in people.

I just want to say "Do you understand that this is FREE???" It's like a bargain mentality. You give them something for FREE and they still ask for it 1/2 off. They just want more.

Oh jeez. Seriously spoiled little tarts!

Hope the rest of the lunches go well for you! :)

My bf is a pharm rep too and she gets that some times! I totally get you!

Aw that's lame, I'm sorry. I used to get that a lot at my old job when we would buy lunch for high profile attorneys - some of them weren't happy unless it was filet mignon! Seriously, people?! :)

soldiers are the same way sometimes too. i can relate!

I work as a MA in an office and I can assure you we're not all like that.
We're just grateful for the free food! At least in my office we are....

Ooh, so nervey. You'd think they'd just be grateful.

**the word verification below is 'mices'. Ick. I almost want to refresh for another word!**

WOW! VERY ungrateful! I cannot believe people would be so rude!! Ugh! Next time just bring a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly and a gallon of milk!! Sheeeeeesh!!

Oh wow that's really rude of them! Doctor's offices are really lucky that they very rarely ever have a day where lunch isn't provided and they shouldn't forget that most of us either bring lunches from home or pay to eat out.
