The Gold Coast-Day 5

The nice thing about waking up in Surfers was the fact that todays schedule was filled with no agenda!!

Swimsuit .... check
Cut off shorts .... check
Sunscreen .... check
Kindle .... check

Starbucks in Australia was few and far between.  Completely opposite from Seattle where Starbucks originated and are found on every other block. The people in aussieland loved their coffee, but in reality they mean espresso!  We popped in a Starbucks to see if they even served drip.

As you can see, brewed coffee was on the VERY bottom!
Things were pretty pricey.

Before sitting beach-side,
Gabe spotted an all you can eat pancake place for a heck of a deal!

My husband can put some food away as he is an incredible eater, and oddly one plate of pancakes was plenty.  These eggs ... not so great.  I am such a picky eater and had such a hard time with the Australian food.

Seeing the famous Q1 Resort - 79 floors

Absolutely incredibly -
We couldn't help but imagine being caught in a building like this as many unfortunately were during 9/11.

Seemed like a private beach as it was a little cloudy and windy

We were just across the street from the Chevron Renaissance Village with tons of shopping and restaurants.  This is where my best friend studied abroad in college and stayed in the Chevron Towers, and it was so great being so close to everything.  Without a car, our hotel location was really important as we didn't want to miss out on all the action!

Dinner at Kamikaze Teppanyaki -- Yumm!

We learned you can't go wrong with Asian food as the flavors were right up our alley.  This was after I cleaned my plate!

Sat out on our patio and just wanted time to standstill!

The picturesque Nerang River

Ready for bed and it was only 8pm!!

I'm on a roll, aren't I?!
To be continued ....

Absolutely loving all the stories from your trip!
I find it interesting how much you struggled with the food, i cant believe that there would be such a big difference between here and there.
And as for Starbucks - its too freakin expensive here! in fact, im sure i heard a few months back that they were getting rid of starbucks in Australia cause they weren't making enough money - or maybe that was another american coffee chain, i cant remember!
