Wishful Wed. ... Pet

click here to get the scoop on WW
'I wish' .... My pet could talk because I have been dying to know why Harley excessively licks the floor/carpet/tile, and what Willis thinks of not being the favorite child!

Here are my two babies ....

I seriously love these two pups to death, and my day to day would be so boring without the love and tenderness I get from them!  My hubby surprised me with Harley, my 5 lb. Yorkie, as my first Christmas present after we were married.  This little girl is spoiled rotten and deserves the world, BUT the dang child drives me nuts with her constant licking of the floor.  She is a scrounger and will do anything for food.  She doesn't beg, but she just goes off licking any and everything to find crumbs, things left behind, and especially cleans my kitchen floors for me.  I hate it and want to know what will make her stop.

On the other hand, Willis was my husbands dog before we got married.  He is a lhasa apsa mutt, and he has to be one of the most mild and laid back dogs out there.  I guarantee if he could talk .... he would question my love and wonder why his little sister gets all the attention.  He probably thinks to himself, "I am such a good protector, I don't have accidents in the house, I play nice with my annoying sister, I don't beg, AND I can hold 'it' for over 24 hours .... why don't I get any more love?"  It really does break my heart because he is such a well behaved and sweet dog, and I favor my other child.  My friends always ask about Willis just to make sure I am spreading the love with my children.

(With that being said, I love both of my dogs and treat them equally nicely, but my life really does revolve around Harley since she is "my" dog!!  I do need to learn how to share my love, so once my own kids are in the picture they won't ask why I love one child more.  This isn't okay!!)

hahaha I love it! Yorkie's are just the best, you really can't help it. Although Willis is pretty adorable and I'm very impressed at how well behaved he is! At night I always prefer to cuddle with one of my dogs because she is more cuddly, and I always get a pang of guilt because I think that maybe I'm being unfair to the other dog! (Or perhaps my husband?) Oh man, what WILL we do when we have realy human children?

I'm loving the new layout!!

Sherman licks EVERYTHING.ALL.THE.TIME

What's up with that? The sofa cushion cannot possibly taste good.

Dogs are so silly. I love them!

I can totally relate to this. When I left home, I also left behind my Shih Tzu whom I've had since I was 7! and my Yorkie. Although I've had the Shih Tzu a lot longer, I always caught myself favoring the Yorkie. I think it's just because the Yorkie is half the size and LOVES snuggling, and the Shih Tzu doesn't. Now, I have my own 3lb toy poodle and he's my baby. When I go to work for the day, I think about him and if he's alright at home. I get so protective and paranoid over him. It makes me think, am I going to be one of those crazy mothers?!

P.S. I agree, I love the new layout, too.

I think your puppy is just trying to help you mop and clean up the floor. That's all. Helpful little baby.

As for your less loved dog (;)) I think he doesn't mind... He has his daddy and that makes him happy!

My Yorkie Bentley licks too! He mostly just licks air though. He licks the air near my mouth mostly, I like to call it air kisses. haha

OMG! Your pups are so cute! I am totally jealous. I want my husband to get me a puppy for Christmas. I had big dogs growing up, and I would give just about anythign for a puppy of my own. Hubs didn't have pets growning up, and he got bit by a dog when he was younger, so he ans an aversion. I always wanted to know what my dogs were thinking too :)
Adorable blog! I love reading your stories :)

That's so funny! Our dog does the same thing! She licks the tile floor all the time and it drives me NUTS!!!

Aww, cute little babies!
You favoring one dog is JUST what I am afraid of! My husband wants to get another dog, and I told him, I will not love it as much as Piri (the dog we have now!) haha, Also, I feel like we got so spoiled with the current dog because she is so well behaved, that the next one might be a terror!!
Thanks for sharing!

Why are Yorkie's always so spoiled??? We had 2 when I was younger Bo and Puddin! I feel like Puddin would have been very judgmental if she could talk! ha

Love it Kels! OK here goes re: Bondi. I wish I knew what he is thinking when he... sneaks in the shower behind me!

Seriously, sometimes I'm just in the shower minding my own business when I turn around to see Bondi pushing aside the shower curtain with his nose and getting in the shower. Then, he just looks at me expectantly. I usually oblige with some good smelling something and give him a quick wash. But its not as if I don't give him SOLO baths..

I always wonder if he sees Joe do this and is trying to be MY MAN. :)

Haha I love reading your blog.. It cracks me up.. I spoil my dog as well.. I'm just praying with the kids it doesn't happen cause that would be terrible.. Your blog is just so sophisticated and has so many awards and followers and you update so often that I just am amazed at how you know how to do it all... I figured after that post about emails you help people out with theirs! No?

This is too funny! You have a free "mop" for your kitchen! And both of your babies are really cute :-)
So, when you have kids, do you think you'll love the one that misbehaves and eats off the floor more? Just joking!!! I really enjoyed this!

Hi...just found your blog and just want to say I'm sooo jealous that you're living in Seattle and I'm not. :-( My hubby was on a 3 yr project with his former company in Seattle and I LOVED it. My all time favorite place in the whole wide world is Snoqualmie Falls. If you haven't visited there, please make it a priority and post photos for me. I love the falls and Salish Lodge.

I would probably do the same thing about my dog and another dog. I'm sure you won't do that to your real children. haha. but hey I know I favor some of my students more than others too though..

Love the new layout...makes me happy and I think my blood pressure goes down a little every time I see it...Give Har Har a kiss for me...AND Willis too :)

Sammie is a little needy and very loving dog...boy does she love her kisses! She is sometimes so excited to give kisses and show you how much she loves you that her strong little tongue goes up the nose! In this midst of her make-out session, I always laugh and wonder...what is she thinking? She loves her mommy!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!! Your blog is so cute! I love the pictures of You & your babies:) We purchased our 10 year old a 2 lb Maltese back in July...unfortunately it didn't work out for us but we miss Lola terribly:(

As for the BareEssentials product line...my friend introduced me to it a couple summers ago when I was having trouble with my foundation...I gave it a try and loved it...with my age I have trouble with "oily & dry" skin so the powder seems to help with that...other than the foundation powder and facial mist I haven't tried the other products:) If you have an "Ulta" store in your area they sell the small starter kit:) Hope you have a great day!

Willis is such a laid back dog that I am sure he is just happy to have a bed to sleep on and someone to feed him now and then.

and...he loves little Harley so I think he understands.

There is just something about yorkies that make you want to love on them. Both of my yorkies get lots of love and attention just because they are so small and cute.

Duke is at the groomers today and the vet is seeing him because of some eye issues he has been having. I have worried all day at work because I am not with him to make sure he is ok. I am a silly dog mom!

Tsk, tsk - favoritism!!! But I totally understand, Harley's your little doglet. But they both sound like cuties!

Cute new layout and I enjoyed reading about your dogs, at least you notice that you favor one doggie more than the other...now you can focus on giving the other one TLC! I am sure your hubby gives them a lot of TLC too so don't be so hard on yourself.

Adorable! I would love to know what my dog is thinking...it must be like having two children, you always wonder if you spend too much time with one or the other...although it sounds like your a great puppy mommy! :)

Definitely a pet post day :) Luv that you have a yorkie...Lol per my post. Your pups sound adorable and definitely are loved bunches. I'm picturing the licking of the floor and i'm crackin' up. Hope you had a wonderful day.

Awwwww, I'm sure both you your babies know they're loved. I have to make sure I spread it around with my fur babies too, especially now that the dude is around. He's kinda trumped them. Ah ha

We have 2 dogs too. It makes complete sense for you to favor YOUR dog, haha. She is yours, after all! They're adorable.

I just found your blog and had to comment. I have to dogs and I have a favorite. My husband always gets mad at me for telling my favorite, Gus, that he is my favorite. He isn't even the sweetest one!

Risa said...

I only have one bubby to love unconditionally. You make poor little one "hold it" for 24 hrs.? Poor little guy. I can't be away from Duke for more than 9 hours. I usually come home at lunch to let him out so he doesn't have to hold on so long. If we can't hold it, neither can they. I think he's my adopted son, I think he thinks so too. :-)

My boyfriend didn't believe me but I truly feel pets are the new "BABY BOOM" for our generation. Not to say that we all won't have children but we are having them later in life. Pets are amazing creatures - I'm so happy yours are a joy to you. My cat has a thing with licking the walls - I feel better knowing he's not so crazy, or at least that it's a bit more common than I discovered. He also loves licking anything with adhesive on it (lint rollers, tape, boxes that have packing tape on them).. .seriously he's. so. strange!
