Let the hiking begin

My favorite thing about Spring in the PNW ....
it means hiking season has begun!

Gabe hiked this trail with Willis (before Harley joined the family) and while I was out of town for work when we first moved here the winter of 06'.  I was excited to check it out.

My girlfriends from Crossfit
Photo op before a 5.5 mile hike, rain, and snow!!
Lindsay, me, and Leslie

Off we go ...

I wasn't prepared for snow sighting
(***When Gabe hiked this trail, he was a naive Texan who was attempting the hike in tennis shoes while everyone else was wearing snowshoes -- HAHAHHA, priceless!!)

I SPY A LAKE peaking through the trees ...
My sister in law says this is an oxymoron photo:  snowy tanktop!

TA-DAAAA, low and behold, Lake 22

The biggest group I have ever hiked with.
Leslie's church planned a day hiking event,
and I am so glad I joined them!

Once we made it to the top, it starting raining so all the layers I shed went back!  Oddly, it happened so fast, so we headed down to the trail-head thinking warm thoughts like HOT chocolate, HOT soup, and most importantly a HOT car!!

This is why I love my city -- Until next time!

Ahhh, Lake 22. One of my favorite hikes! I can't even count how many times I've hiked that trail. But I've only hiked it in the summer! It has a totally different look in the clouds and snow. Fun!

Gorgeous scenery! I love hiking but haven't done it in a while. You definitely stirred my grits and made me want to find a challenging trail with a rewarding view. :)

I SO know what you mean! There are tons of great hikes all within an hour or two. It's paradise if you ask me!

I've never done Lake 22. Maybe we'll give it a shot soon. I'd like to try an overnighter this year!

I love hiking but unfortunately living in Texas doesn't provide you that many opportunities to do so.

Looks like y'all had fun though!

I am so very jealous. I loved hiking when I lived in Connecticut. Yeah you wouldn't think hiking there. It wasn't anything superb, but it was hiking and I loved the scenary. I always go hiking while in in the white mountain in New Hampshire. To Die For. I miss it.

Oh how fun!! It looks like you guys really had a great weekend.

If I ever make it back to Seattle, I'll have to look up that hike-- seems so fun!

And I totally understand what your sis means about the oxymoron.. That's my everyday wardrobe in Colorado. You can go into work in capris/short sleeves and come out to snow on your car. Oh lovely mountain weather. ;)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Gosh! I can't WAIT to visit the PNW. Hubby and I have visited the west coast countless times, have lived on the east coast and the middle of the country, but we've never really had time to take in the PNW. It will definitely be on our list of first vacations to take after he finishes residency (41 days...not that I'm counting). And who knows, maybe I can talk him into buying a practice there...or at least a vaca home ;-)

BTW, how long would it take you to get to Vancouver from where you are?
