I am going to answer this statement differently now that I live in Seattle ...
'I wish' .... I was fluent in another language in addition to English, and it would be Russian!
If you would have asked me this five years ago, I would have told you Spanish. Living in the south and being so close to the Mexican border, knowing the Spanish language was/is a huge plus. The problem is, I let Spanish fall to the waist-side after high school and a college, so it is pretty much foreign to me now. I wish I would have kept up with it!!!!
Anyways, now living in Seattle, I think it would be amazing to speak Russian. You would never believe me when I tell you how many Russians (as well as Asians too) reside in Seattle and on the west coast. I call on many Russian clinics, pharmacies, as well as have multiple Russian girlfriends, and I think it would be an interesting language to learn and be able to speak. I find Russians intriguing .... Plus, I could get away with a name like Svetlana of Yulia.
Also, I think we would all want to speak Vietnamese to be able to know what the ladies at the nail salon are saying about our tragic feet, hehe!
What language would you
want to speak and why?

Loved this question!
Russian would be quite interesting. I didn't know there was a large population of Russians in Seattle. It makes sense.
I just watched 2012 the other night and when I read your post I automatically thought of the guy in the movie!! Have you seen it??
I would like to speak more German. I took it all through high school but I still never got fluent in it. It's not very elegant but I love it! :)
That would be a great language to learn!
Russian seems quite unique.
Thanks for hosting,
Katie
Russian would be interesting! I would go for Spanish since I live in the south, like you mentioned in your post.
Russian is definitely a neat language! Seems like it would be so hard to learn but I have missionary friends who live there and they learned rather quickly. I LOVE spanish and I worked in a spanish church for a year, went to Mexico twice and learned the language pretty fast. So fun! I would love to learn any of the romance languages. French, Italian etc. Speaking chinese would be cool too. Seems so hard! Haha. Good post!
what a great and pretty blog. I found you through my friend Angie at Just Simply Live. I'm going to participate in Wishful Wednesday too!
this was a fun one! i can just see you talking russian now ... :)
I guessed yours would be French... I guess I was totally off.
This was a fun one!
Thanks!

LOL! My name is Russian..I however, am not. ;) Vonda
Russian sounds like it would be so hard to learn. But I am completely with you on learning Vietnamese I always wonder what they are saying when I'm getting my nails done. Haha
I loved this topic! My sister attempted to learn Russian a couple years ago... It sounds like a very interesting language! Would love to know if you start to learn it :) Happy Wednesday!
I would never have thought of Russian, but great pick!!
Russian would be so cool! I am totally with ya on the nail salon ladies ( :
I love how you picked out names to go with your language! I guess I would have chosen Madeline for my French name.
But if I was a dude, I would definitely pick Vladimir for a Russian name. It's probably one of my favorite names of all time. I tried to suggest it for our future son, but David vetoed that right away! lol
You could not be more right with the vietnamese statement. I really would love to know what there saying.
Ooh! Great topic and great choice! I think Russian would be a fantastic language to learn! Definitely something different -- most people I ask say Spanish or French!
Oh, Russian would be so much fun to learn! A guy I went to school with studied Russian and is now living in Moscow--so jealous! Hope you're having a great day!
Great topic:) I can only speak a little high school Spanish. It's funny how the "dirty" and funny words stick with you!
I know two Russian females over here. One is named Svetlana!
The other is a mail order wife, and she is super nice and pretty and lives next to my grandparents. I love to hear her speak to her son in Russian. Her son went to HS with me and Was the smartest kid in our entire school! :) And, he tried to teach me Russian and I failed miserably!
Я скучал по тебе
That would be very cool! I love hearing people speak Russian
how fun!!! ohhhhh I speak a good handful :)
Happy Cinco de Mayo! ;)
hmm, I would speak Italian and Spanish! We have a lot of Spanish speaking families in the hospital and I think Italian would just be sexy!
Russian would be an interesting language - difficult, but interesting. You have such an adorable family! Stopping by from Boutique on Feet! Come visit!

haha omg, I always wonder what the ladies are saying to each other while doing my nails!!
I totally want to be fluent in Italian! (So I can move there someday)! :)
I've always wanted to visit St. Petersburg...how cool it would be to be able to speak the language!
We have a lot of Russians in Virginia too for some reason. I would definitely love to speak French fluently. I took 3 years of it in high school, but definitely not even close to being fluent. It's hard to learn another language!
We do have a HUGE Russian population here in Seattle, but there are also very large populations of Romanian, Ukranian, Croatian, and tons of other Eastern European countries here. You've got your work cut out for you! ;-)
P.S. We had Romanian neighbors for a long time. They were very friendly but we never knew their names, so we nicknamed them Vladimir and Svetlana. They would frequently bring over home made Romanian crepes with apricot filling. YUM!
Oooh, great pick! I would love to learn the language, as well, seeing that I am Russian. :) Hopefully someday we will!
Just found your blog, loving it!
I'm a southerner (TN) in Chicago - so nice to get a taste of home! I've been here 5 years but will never give up my southern girl title :)
I'd pick Russian too, my husband is Russian so it would come in handy. I tried classes but the easiest was picking up a few things when his friends visited. Maybe when we have kids...
