Protein Shakes

I've finally jumped on the protein shake bandwagon .....

A majority of my fellow crossfitters indulge in an after workout shake, so I finally decided to give it a shot.  There are a gazillion options to choose from and most people are biased to the one they so take ... and two of my dear friends at the gym rep ON (Optimum Nutrition).  I trusted them with the Platinum Hydro Whey, and got samples of the Turbo Chocolate, Strawberry, Cake Batter, Vanilla, etc.

The Platinum Hydro Whey is the "Gold Standard" and has 30 grams of high quality whey protein, only 2 grams of carbs, and all in just 140 calories!!  It's perfect for me since I am not a huge meat eater like the hubby.  A cheeseburger every now and then is plenty, and my diet mostly consists of chicken and turkey.  So, this yummy beverage works for me!

Extra protein for recovery and to rebuild my muscles
is now in my daily regimen with this fancy shaker bottle :)

I lost 40lbs by exercising more and replacing my breakfast with a protein shake. It makes a world of difference in toning and energy! :)

So, I haven't done Crossfit but this shake is a great way to get in protein. I may have to get some! I rarely eat meat in general, so this would be awesome. :D

yay!!!! me and protein shakes are one......
I use Isoflex chocolate mint, it's 120 cals and 27 g protein and is awesome with just water and ice!

Add a tsp of powder glutamine into the shake for added muscle recovery!!

I definitely don't eat too much red meat either. I used to drink protein shakes but I haven't been so much lately. The only kind I have ever tried is chocolate but yours sound yummy!

I really struggle with the icky tastes of protein powder, no matter what flavor it is. I've tried several and can't find one that I'd ever describe as 'yummy'. This I need to try!!

that's fantastic, glad you incorporated that into your diet! i have been wanting to do that, but unfortunately i'm allergic to whey. i'll have to look for an alternative.

Which flavor did you like? I always struggle to find a good flavor. Most people like chocolate and I don't so that makes it hard.

Cake batter sounds pretty legit :)

i drink two a day! love optimum nutrition too-- my trainer recommended it to me almost a year ago and i haven't switched yet. you can't go wrong with chocolate, coffee, or peanut butter. i tried cake batter and wasn't a huge fan, but i still have almost half of my 5 pound container left:( they sell it on bodybuilding.com- best prices and you'll have it within a day or 2.

Hmm..I am not a big protein shake fan at all but my husband swears by them! He always laughs at me because I tell him I can taste the protein.
