I am a proud to say Southwest Airlines has been my go-to airline for the last 17 years ... every since my mom was hired with them!! She is a flight attendant based out of Dallas and has enjoyed every bit of flying for them as it is an incredible company who cares about their employees AND customers. She's never going to be allowed to retire (if I had a say) as I like the flight benefits living in Seattle when all my family is across the country.
My family grew up spotting "red bellies" in the sky :)
I just came across the story that melted my heart about the pilot who held the plane for a murder victim's family. Grab a tissue as it is encouraging for a company like SWA to be proud of their employee in a situation like this.
Elliot says, "I’m sharing a trip that was saved amid tragic circumstances by a compassionate pilot and an airline that supported his decision to hold a flight."

Oh wow!! That is beautiful! :) I'm sure the flight benefits are nice.. my cousin is a pilot and his kids get to go all kinds of crazy places!!
This story made my heart smile. And I love Southwest. Not only do they fly almost everywhere, cheap tickets, and no fees for baggage, but their employees really are the best!!!
I agree - SWA is the absolute best in customer service. I will ALWAYS fly them as long as they are headed to my destination.
Thanks for sharing that story! Don't think I have ever flown with them, but will have to soon!!!
What a touching story! Thank you for sharing!
That's amazing! What a great story! Unfortunately the airline industry has taken such a turn for the worst that it's really nice to hear this. One of my best friend's dad used to be a pilot for Southwest based in Dallas until he sadly passed away. I bet your mom knew him!
What a great story, it's nice to know there is still some good people out in the world who go the extra mile for someone else.
what a great story! Im flying SWA in 2 weeks :)
Wow! What an amazing story. Go Southwest! I have flown them so much and am happy that they are so caring.
Really love this story, thanks for sharing!
I heard this story on the car radio yesterday and I started crying like crazy! What a great story and amazing pilot!
That is so touching.! I love Southwest, it is the airline I will fly.
Wow that is awsome!
how wonderful and touching!
I have never flown southwest but given the chance I would jump having just read that story!!!
Great story! I have only been around airlines that say no....hard to believe a plan was held for that long...maybe the world is a bit more compassionate then I believed?
I flew for SW as a flight attendant 10 years ago and loved every minute of it. When I heard that story, I wasn't the least bit surprised.
I love SWA! It is the airline I LOVE to fly! However, I do have one bone to pick with them as of March 1...they are changing their rewards program and in my opinion it is crap now when before it was AWESOME! Anyway, I read this story the other day and way crying like a baby!
My goodness; this is SUCH a great example of humanity! I am sometimes embarrassed to live in a Delta hub; they definitely have a bad rep (and for good reason). SW constantly impresses me. It's just unfortunate the reason he had to be traveling in the first place.
What a touching story!
I love SWA!
Oh my goodness! What a sweet story! Thank you for sharing!! I am flying to Dallas on SWA in April ... Hope your Mom is my flight attendant!!!
Miss you! I was so excited when I saw you blogged :)
Everytime I've flown with them, it's been a good experience.
That's pretty awesome!!! My family always flies SWA!!!
I almost cried. Thanks for sharing the story. It's good to read about such gems amidst the selfish lot all around.
