Gabe and I both wear full suits for work, which creates for lots of acquired costs at the dry cleaner (*insert blah face here). Our world was changed when Brooks Brothers starting making non-iron shirts that eliminated the $1.99 fee after each and every wear with the convenience of washing them at home. Then, my checking account LOVED when Arrie told me about the non-iron shirts from Costco! Great material and shirt designs that Gabe loves and a third of the price!
It wasn't until a year of being married that I knew I even had an iron. My aunt was in town and she asked to borrow our iron ... and I said, "Hmm, I know we have one, but not sure where it is." I found it in THE PANTRY!! LOL. After finding the iron, my aunt was polite and used the bed to iron her clothes since I didn't own an ironing board probably thinking to herself ... This girl needs an ironing board!
Then, I started copying my aunt, and it became comfortable to just use the guest bed as an ironing board for the few shirts I attempted to iron myself and not take to the dry cleaners.
Here's where the confession comes ....
In actuality, I feel like a crazy lady for
never investing (the whopping $20)
on an ironing board!
SO, Gabe decided randomly last night that he was going to purchase one for the Smith household! He called on his way home from work and said, "Hey, I am buying an ironing board." I thought to myself ok ... and asked if I could buy one the following day so I could pick out the cover/pattern. His response was, "Nope, you've had four years to do that!" True.Story.
HAHAH -- Good point.
Well, there you have it. The Smith's now have an ironing board,
and we have LOVED it!

We never iron either!!!!! UGH!!!!!
I hate ironing, it feels like punishment.
I hate ironing!! And I always bought wrinkle-free formal wear for Ken,you know..just in case I need to iron them.
This is so funny to me because we iron EVERYTHING...I mean EVERYTHING.
My husband does not go to bed until he irons his clothes for work the next day.
Congrats on the new board! :)
Oh my goodness, this made me laugh - only because I am the exact same way. We don't own an ironing board, but if we did - it would likely be in the pantry or somewhere else random :) Your husband is so cute!
congratulations on the ironing board!! Ironing is THE worst. No wonder you didn't get one for 4 years! haha
I don't Iron I use Wrinkle Release by Downy. Works like a charm!
hahahaha! awesome! I have an ironing board, but I may or may not iron on a towel on the kitchen counter. It is what it is. :)
We don't own an ironing board either. We use a steamer, which I LOVE! Cute post!
that is super funny! i NEVER iron! I don't think I've ever busted out my ironing board and come to think of it i can't rememer where it is either : )
I don't know if I'll ever have an ironing board. I never really understood ironing, but I suppose at 24 years old, I should start to get it. Whoops.
Is that the one you guys got? It's cute!
Too funny! We got one right after we got married and GH uses it! I don't know how to iron!
Ironing is the best worst thing ever. I HATE doing it but so much cheaper than taking EVERYTHING to the dry cleaners!
So cute! Love this. My confession... I iron EVERYTHING. T-shirts - yup. Yoga pants - yup. Yes I have a problem! :)
How funny that you don't ever iron! I had my ironing board built in my closet so it just pulls down from the wall in my new house! I can't wait for the convenience of that!
I never iron...just sayin
I'm the same way! My husband teased me when we first got married... since I'm so domestic in every other area, and couldn't figure out how to iron his shirts... he usually had to iron his own shirts...Ha.
HAHA You guys are too funny!
I HATE ironing! I don't do it unless I'm wearing a suit which is hardly ever :)
ha!! congrats!!!
An iron was my hubby's first purchase when he moved out...he irons all his dress shirts...,and loves it
weird!
Too funny! I admit I use my hair straightener all the time to touch up the collars on my dress shirts. I also bought this adorable little silk shirt to wear under a suit, but the first time I ironed it, I singed a hole right through it. After word got about about that incident, I actually got a steamer for my wedding shower and LOVE IT! I highly recommend.
Hahaha! That's so funny because I cannot STAND to iron, I make the hubs do it. Honestly, I don't even know where our ironing board is. :)
Sounds like a response my husband would give!!
hahaha too funny! I hate ironing - it is such a pain!
My husband and I alternate and iron every night our clothes for the next day. I love to iron!
Ugh. I loathe ironing. I was so glad when my husbands work went business casual. Haven't touched the iron in over a year!
Hilarious!!! My husband irons everything and will do my clothes for me...thank God for him!!! Not going to lie though, I have been know to run my hair straightner across my shirts!!!
I hate ironing! I feel like I never really get all of the wrinkles out!
I used to just iron with a towel on the kitchen table, but now we have a little table top ironing board...it's very handy :)
I love non-iron shirts!! I got to model for Brooks Brothers recently and I got one of their free non-iron shirts for doing it!!! On my college budget, that was the best thing ever!!!!
And ha!! You didn't own an ironing board til now?? I love you guys...
We never iron. Our dry cleaners even comes to our house picks it up and drops it off 3 days later. We're spoiled.
Ha that's funny I like ironing stuff that I sew but shirts and pants are another story.
Ironing is one of my least favorite things to do! I just make sure to take my clothes out of the dryer fast enough so I don't have to iron them :-)
HILARIOUS. we never used to iron until b becamse a pharma rep and we couldn't afford to dry clean!!! so im now an ironing champ! Our ironing board is about 8000 years old and i am TOTALLY about to buy a pretty one that hangs on the back of the door and just folds down when you need it! i CAN'T STAND setting that thing up/putting it away!
welcome to the wonderful world of ironing on a board haha
omg that is hilarious!!! ironing is the worst thing ever...thank god hubby is used to it from the marines, so he irons everything, not me :)
Derek and I NEVER iron but for some reason felt like we needed to register for a new one for the wedding. Heres the kicker, we registered for and receved the same one we already have. Thats how often we iron.
hahahahaa! you are too cute! that is hysterical! I do have an ironing board...but i have to admit I take it out only a couple times a year!!
hahahah FAIR enough, Gabe. Fair enough :-)
The dryer is how i iron my clothes. I HATE ironing clothes.
Haha! I love his response!
That is funny, but I did the same thing. I had two ironing boards I left at my mom's and could never fit them in my car. I always thought I would bring it back and used my table with a towel underneath when I had to iron. I guess I should really spring the 20 bucks and buy one, but I try to avoid it all costs haha.
I don't iron. Maybe 5 times in the past year, and that is pushing it!!! I am sure you will love your new board, I use my kitchen counter with a towel.
I confess that I have never ironed a single time in my whole life! We recieved an iron as a wedding gift{which we did not register for}, and we never used it! I think we might have gave it away!
Ahh we neverrrr iron either! Ours hadn't even been unpacked from moving (in July!) so my Mom had to iron one of Jay's shirt for the wedding we went to a few weeks ago LOL
I keep my ironing board and iron out at all times...but in the room next to ours that is now the nursery, so NO more ironing for me! :) In fact, I will will probably move the board to the basement.
I only iron a few shirts that didnt get the wrinkles out in the dryer- any suits or dress shirts go right to the dry cleaners! I DESPISE ironing.
Mr. Pickle LOVES the shirts from Costco. I don't iron (unless for a wedding or another event). We buy the downy wrinkle releaser spray instead of ironing. So lazy :)
I DO NOT IRON! lol
When we got married, Buck about had a full-blown fit on why on earth I'd been living on my own for so long and hadn't bought one. I told him Downy Wrinkle Release spray is all I would ever need, and I just don't buy it if it requires more than that.
He was floored.
He went to Target within 10 minutes and bought one right then and there. I think a year later he had to teach me how to use it.
:)
Happy ironing!
