Really????

I am a huge advocate of the library because they make the entire reading process that much better.  Who doesn't love a free book that is conveniently shipped to your local library from another branch just by a few clicks from the couch.  Then, an email update with delivery status pops into my blackberry, and my happy self has seven days to pick it up.

Well not with THIS read.  Geez!

I just added this to my "hold list" at the library, and I am number 320 on the hold list and there are 31 holdable copies.

COME AGAIN??
Maybe I can read this book next year ....... hahahahha!!

In the meantime,
Stay tuned for a review on the lovely Gussy product I just received in the mail!!

Check Gussy's Etsy shop out if you dare :)

seriously? it's an excellent read! and it's probably about $7 at your local bookstore (or even cheaper if you have a used book store!). However, it's a pretty quick (though tough to digest) read. You may have it, by, August? ;) In the meantime there are a bazillion other books out there, right?

The same thing happened to me with The Time Traveler's Wife. I finally just went to Target and bought it!

Oh my gosh! That is a serious waiting list!

Sherrie said...

I read that book years ago when it first came out. lol on the waiting list!

Oh my gosh! I had no idea this book was so popular! Hopefully those 319 people in front of you are speed readers!! :p

I am a massive library fan! MASSIVE!

The lovely bones is worth buying!! Who knows how long each of those 320 people will take with the book! Thats one massive waiting list!

Wow that must be a book worth just going out and buying, let us know how it is when you finally get to read it!

I am so surprised! This isnt a new book by any means...it came out in 2002/2003 right? You could prolly get it on the sale table in the dept stores.

Wow!! That's a huge list. If I owned it I would send it to you, but no luck!

Wow! That is a pretty serious hold list. Sometimes, in my library a book will have four or five holds and it will turn out to be the same person over and over. So maybe instead of 320, your wait is only 120 long! Hey, it could happen!

That always happens when a movie comes out....everyone rushes out to read the book! I've actually read it and didn't enjoy it, but the other 5 people in my book club did so apparently I'm the only one! It was just a little too far out there for me.

I guess that's what happen when everyone's property taxes are cut in half because the value of their house has been cut in half. Welcome budget cuts and the lack of books! Maybe you'll have to do the reversal w/ this one - watch the movie and then read the book. ;)

I see that you have Emily Griffin on your bookshelf. She's awesome! Have you read her other books? Something Borrowed and Something Blue are SO good!

Wow, large list!

Haha that's crazy! I was something like 170th in line for the Time Traveler's Wife when the movie was coming out. I ended up going to Barnes and Noble and just buying it...impatient much? :)

My Grandma lives in Eugene and she was number 3OO something for the book. She looked at the lady and said, "some people take forever to read a book honey, I may not even be around then." She bought it at a used book store later that day. She was not a big fan of the book, but as you know, I LOVED it. I would send it off to you, except that my mom has it now and I have a little waiting list of my own

Annie said...

OH NO!! That is crazy....must be VERY wanted right now b/c of the movie. I must say that I DID read it awhile back and it is a GOODIE...so be patient :)
I LOVE the library and just can’t figure out why people go out and buy expensive books all of the time when you can just utilize you local library!?!

That's a long list. I guess everyone who didn't read it when it came out is jumping on the bandwagon because of the movie. It's a great book.

I'm ALWAYS looking for a good read :) I was (still am/will forever be) obsessed with the Twilight series and after that I felt SO LOST as to what to read next. And really like nothing else could measure up. How ridiculous is that? I've heard this book is SO good though - but that was a few yrs ago before the movie came out. I hope you get to read it before it makes it to DVD, ha!

Oh and PS - I CAN'T believe you know my bro! And yes, I agree, we would SO be friends if you still lived in the good ole' DFW ;) VERY similar my dear, very similiar indeed!

That's quite the wait... sheesh!!

And I am excited to hear about this review.... intrigued!!

I LOVE the library! I've become an avid reader within the past year, and I was buying all the books and realized HELLO library! So I'm always heading to the library too! I love ETSY! I actually just decided I'm about to start selling stuff on there!

I have bought two books in the last several years. It was only because I was at Target and didn't have time to get to the library before it closed. I accidentally bought a #2 in a series so I bought #1 and gave both to my mom for Christmas. It is so hard to get books that are movies from the library! Lovely bones is one of the few I would recommend reading before you see the movie. Good luck!

Jenny DB said...

Oooh I have this book I'll keep it in my car and next time I see ya (ehem double date!) you can borrow it:)

Unknown said...

It's one of the best books ever! Definately worth the money to buy. I have read it about 5 times!

Linda said...

Yup. I'm on a few waiting lists at the library like that. You could pick it up at Half Price books or Book swap sites.

BelleinBows said...

Oh girl, I would just buy it. It's a good (easy) read, love love love the storyline. Worth a few dollars!

that is crazy! It is a really good book though!

Tickled Pink Mandy said...

haha. I totally understand this post! Ive become a library addict this past year and currently have 3 books on my hold list and 2 cds (to burn onto my ipod)... You just cant beat free!

But... a 300-something hold might be worth buying! Good Luck!

That's funny. I've been trying to check that out at the library too and it's always out. Our library is not nearly as high tech though. You've gotta check the shelf then the computer, just in case. I do really, really want to read that book. I just finished a fantastic book - The Help by Kathryn Stockett and I'm reading another great one (so far) Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.

Its a great book- pretty sad but youll enjoy it!

That is absolutely nuts! I'm a big advocate of libraries and wish they could get bigger budgets to have more copies and more titles! Not that a library would ever be able to cope with such a long waiting list, but it might help!

I had the same problem with that book at my library! I guess I'll just have to buy it!

Sierra said...

What?! That is mad! I guess when movies are released it definitely helps with the popularity of the book, huh?

Holly said...

ummm... I own this one, bought it when it first came out. Happy to lend it to you love!

Hmmm...maybe I should be using my library instead of wasting so much money&time stacking up book after book after book around here. :) You make it sound (mostly) so convenient!

chelsea said...

It's a good book! I read it and passed it along - otherwise I'd just send it to you!

My one-year-old has her first library card, & I've already created my first hold list. I feel like I've been missing out on doing the simplest thing to save me some $! =)
