Rachel's 9th Birthday Wish

This past Wednesday, there was an awful 14 vehicle pileup on I-90 ....
An absolute tragedy with a semi, a logging truck, and so many others
that became the talk of my city for days.

The sweet 9 year old girl attended my church, Eastlake Community Church, and before her tragic death, word spread about her birthday fundraising wish:  She had a campaign to raise $300 for clean water in developing nations instead of giving her birthday gifts.  She was $80 short of her goal, but confidently told her family that she was going to work harder and raise more money for her 10th birthday.  That takes maturity, let alone from a young kid :)

Her life was ended early here on earth, but her legend will live on because she has touched, inspired, and changed the lives of thousands.  ALL by a sweet 9 year old girl who had hope for the world to help others.

The $220 has skyrocketed to $230,000 and is climbing by the minute.

“It is something that hits us at our core” said Pastor Meeks.”There is nothing natural about losing a nine-year old girl. But there's something that we’re attracted to, when life, comes out of death.”

Rachel started with drops of water that will quench the thirst of millions around the world.  Click here for Rachel's MyCharity Campaign.
The Lord works in mysterious ways, does He not!

"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."  Hebrews 11:1

Oh, my heart is aching. What a tragic loss for your community. I could not imagine. I love what your Pastor said. When life comes out of death. Very moving.

Thanks for sharing this story with us. I woke up in a grumpy, pissy mood today. Not worth staying in this mood after I read about a wonderful story. Thank you, K!

That is absolutely unbelievable. Totally heartwrenching to lose a sweet girl at such a young age, but amazing what God has done through her life. She will get to see the fruits of her labor and she's sitting with Jesus while doing it. I can't imagine what her family is going through, but I can only imagine they must also feel joy at the works their daughter was able to accomplish in a short 9 years well lived!

I saw this story on the news, so so so tragic. They interviewed Pastor Ryan on the news too when he said that quote. It just breaks my heart but she seemed like such an incredible young lady. She did more in her short life that a lot of people and her desire to help people is inspiring.

What a sad and inspiring story all at the same time.

So sad when a child dies, especially a little champion like her.

man. rips my heart out for her family, but SOOOOO freaking COOL how God's power can just go crazy in the midst of what we all perceive as tragedy. Her sweet heart was obviously filled with The Holy Spirit, and her small good work was magnified a ton by Him. This is a super cool victory for His Kingdom. Glory to our amazing and GOOD and sneaky God :)
