Virgin Skyper No More

Skype = Fun For All

I have entertained the thought of Skyping (I think that's what the cool kids are calling it) with my family in Texas, and tonight we made it happen!  I am no longer a virgin skyper, and I am in love already.  It seriously took 3 minutes to download, sign up, and voila the next thing I know my brother and his wife were on the computer screen.  It was so fun, and I am hoping this will be a regular thing for us!!  Too bad Griffin was already in bed for the night because that would have been even better to see his cute little self on the screen.

After Gabe and I logged off from our fun video chat,
our convo went like this ....

Hubby:  "You are just like Oprah!"
Me:  "Why is that?"
Hubby:  "Because she Skypes with people on her show"
Me:  "Haha, JUST like Oprah .... is right!"

Next, I am going to Skype with my bestie whenever she gets home from Wal-Mart :)  I can't wait to see Colt.  Will it hold a 1 year old and 2 year olds attention?!??!  It better!  Now, I am wondering what took me so long to figure this out.  Better yet, IT'S FREE!!!

Do you Skype -- If so, to whom?

Haha, I'm not cool enough to skype, I guess. I don't think I want anyone to see my face most of the time.

I started skyping when my sister moved to Ireland last summer. I'd be lost without it (and her)!!

How ironic, I just skyped for the first time tonight as well! My college friends have wanted to see my one-year-old and it works out great! It kept his attention very well, he babbled the whole time!

I love Skype (and iChat, too!) It's funny you posted about this because I just got off Skype with my parents. When I first moved we used to Skype weekly, but it's been a while lately. It's awesome! I make my parents put the dogs on the screen and I talk to them, too :) The boy will Skype with his parents and grandparents sometimes, too.

I love skype! My 1 1/2 year old loves to skype with her uncles and baby cousins who are 1 & 4! She can't get over the fact that she can see them move through the screen! She knocks on it when she sees them! :-)

I love your blog!

Xx,
Mykla

Skype is a wonderful thing. It definitely got me through a year long deployment with my hubs!

Heck yes! I have saved soooo much money talking to my family on skype (since most of them live in another country). I guess it might be the one modern convenience my non-techy self is actually familiar with.

how fun! guess that leaves me as the 30 year old skype virgin. LOL! xoxo

You are too funny! I do not skype and not sure any of my relatives would really want to see us, lol! Sounds like you're going to have lots of fun!!

My sister is always skyping with her friends, its pretty neat. I also, see people doing it at school on headsets which is odd..

did you hear about that new thing "chatroulette"? I just heard about it last night its like skype except your signing on and talking to strangers, sounds pretty creepy to me since a lot of ppl are perves!!

I love Skyping! My dad goes out of town a lot for work so he wanted to be on the phone while we opened our Christmas presents. I suggested we skype him so instead of him having to just listen, he got to see us open them too. It wasn't the same as having him home, but it was much better than just having him on the phone.

We just started using it, too. My in-laws bought us the Skype wireless video phone and got one for everyone else in the family, so we get to see a lot more of each other now :-) It'll come in really handy once we're in New Zealand, too!

skype makes living abroad possible and less depressing :)

I just recently discovered Skype, as well, and am equally obsessed. If you set up your contacts to search your web e-mail accounts, you will be so surprised by how many of your friends have skype that you didn't even know about! Great for keeping the family in touch.

My whole family has started skyping but I haven't signed up or gotten an account yet. I really need to do it!a

I love Skype!!! I used to Skype all the time with my sister and her family when they were living overseas a few years ago and now that's how my hubby and I keep in touch. It's quite possibly one of the greatest inventions!

Awww, soo fun! I think I should definitely do this with my sister who goes to college in Kansas. Not sure if the folks could figure it out ;-) FUN!

I skype with my eldest daughter who remained in Virginia Beach to go to college after she graduated- but we had to PCS. We don't get to see her often, so we use skype to chat with her while we are cooking and doing family things to make her feel included. We recently met her long-time boyfriend via skype as well. It's a fantastic venue!

I am in love with Skype! It makes it so easy to stay in touch with everyone since we're scattered over college campuses through the state. I'm so glad you got in on the excitement!

haha. SKYPE was a savior for my early relationship with my husband!
4 years ago we used it to talk daily while he was in NZ and I was in America. ThIS was after going through calling cards like crazy for a few weeks. OUR Computers back then did not have built in videos or micropohnes, so we bought these huge ridic looking headsets! AND we just talked- no video! NOW we talk to his family in NZ WITH THE VIDEO! I love it..I wont lie. I am glad we didnt have the video back then because it was usually early in the morning my time when we talked and I looked like crap! :)

You may have to help me out when I am ready to MAKE IT HAPPEN!
I know that must be soooooo much fun to see everyone...BUT...then you have to look CUTE all the time before calling! hey...you and I could SKYPE!!!!!!! xxooxx

I skype almost every weekend with my family in Brazil. It's sooo good to be able to see them, but at the same time sad to not be able to hug and kiss them, especially my nieces and nephews that are growing up so fast. Well, it is a lot of fun though! Looove Skype!
