How Great Thou Art Hymn
Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed;
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
and hear the brook, and feel he gentle breeze;
Refrain
And when I think that God his son not sparing,
Sent him to die - I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
Refrain
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home- what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
*Thanks Meghan for posting this as Carrie Underwood gives the song justice for sure!
Hearing a traditional hymn brings me back to my Church of Christ roots, and How Great Thou Art is one of my all time favorites. My dad and I share a special love for music, particularly heartfelt or praise and worship variety, and I cannot count the hours the two of us have spent listening to music with a big box of tissues nearby. Cherished moments for sure!!
Today was spent glorifying my God
He has RISEN!!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you posted that because I have seen so many people twittering about it and was curious! One of my fav hymns too!
ReplyDeleteSo many of my friends were posting that video on facebook. We attend the Church of Christ in our small town and one of the things I love about it is singing the traditional hymns. I love contemporary praise and worship, but nothing beats a well written hymn. They can bring a tear to my eye faster than anything. Happy Easter (a few days late!).
