Pantry Cleaning

I decided it was time to clean out the pantry since we had a tons of goodies hidden way in the back that I wasn't even aware of!

My first good find, an unopened box of Bisquick, and I had a brilliant idea to attempt to make fresh biscuits. We were making breakfast for lunch anyways, so I put Gabe in charge of the Cheesy Garlic Biscuits, thanks to the recipe on the back, and they turned out FABULOUS! I seriously don't think I will ever buy store bought biscuits again ..... And sadly we didn't have any leftovers since Gabe ate nine and I had two!! Lol!

Next, after lots of throwing out and organizing, I have come to the conclusion that my 30-something husband is really a five year old by his love for food and especially sugary cereal. It's somewhat comical, but quite scary at the same time.

***Yes this really is the top shelf of my pantry and ALL shown are my husbands.  My cereals are actually to the left of the first box on the left.

His favorites ... Lucky Charms, Corn Pops, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, Fruity Pebbles, Golden Grahams, and more. These are total opposites from my favorites since I grew up not eating any of the cereals above and only ate Special K, Oat Squares, and Granola. But a special thanks to my husband for teaching me about Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Ohhh how it changed my life, for the better, but I can pass on every other shown above.

What's YOUR favorite cereal??

Don't you wish you lived at my house to eat all these sugary cereals with Gabe - haha!

  1. I'm lactose intolerant and can't enjoy cereal like I used to.... It's quite tragic.

  2. Wow, that's a ton of cereal for two people. I'm not a big fan of sugary cereal, my mom never let us have it! But I can get down with some honey bunches of oats!

  3. I love me some Special K with Strawberries. I'm also a fan of Pops and Honey Combs:)

  4. That's exactly how my boss's husband is! (I'm a nanny)..

My favorite cereal is Honey Nut or regular Cheerios and Frosted Flakes. I could eat cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner though lol.

Good for you for getting everything organized though!

  5. YUM!!! I love cereal, but I usually eat it for dessert because I almost never eat breakfast. I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but I try not to buy it. I usually eat Honey Bunches of Oats. Apple Jacks were my favorite as a kid!

  9. So jealous of Gabe and all his cereal selections ~ I like many of the same kinds. Frosted Flakes and Honey Nut cheerios are pretty much staples in my pantry!

  10. Haha, I'm a big fan of the frosted flakes and the frosted cheerios.

  11. I can only have Rice Chex due to having Celiac! :( But I use to love all the sugary, non-healthy cereals!

  14. Haha so funny that he likes 'little kid' cereal! so cute :)
I like smart start and special K vanilla almond!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Woah, that is a lot of cereal! I don't drink milk, so I've never been a big cereal person. However more recently I've been stuck on Special K with vanilla yogurt. It's a great combo!!

  16. Me and you husband would get along great, I love love love all those cereals but if I had to choose I would say Cinnamon Life and Frosted Mini Wheats are my fave.

  17. That's funny!! That's what the top of our fridge looked like before my husband found out he was diabetic! :) I do like froot loops and crunch berries...

  18. I'm not much of a cereal eater. I try to stick to fresh fruit in the mornings. When I do eat cereal, I usually try to stick to cheerios or crispix, but every now and then I will grab a box of fruit loops! You gotta mix it up every now and then!

    ReplyDelete
  19. That's alot of cereal!! I'm a strict shopper and don't let my husband buy more until he's finished what's at home. Haha...I sound like such a mom!!

As for my fave kind, I stick to Multi-grain cheerios, crispix or Special K. Pretty boring, but my mom never let us have the sugary cereals growing up....getting Berry Berry Kix was like the ultimate treat!

  20. mmmmm i love me some cinnamon toast crunch!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ha! My kids just recently started LOVING cereal. I can't get them to eat anything else for breakfast. Their new FAV...cookie crisp :)

And heck yea...we love Bisquick Cheesy Garlic Biscuits! The are awesome...and they go fast in our house too!

    Have a great week!

  22. I just bought some Lucky Charms for my 30-year-old husband today too. It really is like being married to a small child sometimes...but it keeps us young at heart right?? lol

My favorite cereal is Crackle'n Oat...but it's a workout for your jaws to chew through a whole bowl of it!!!

  23. I am not much of a cereal eater. Believe it or not I used to eat shredded wheat when I was a kid. I also liked Captain Crunch.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That is TOO funny! Kudos to you for cleaning out your pantry. :)

My favorite cereal is Special K.

Sometimes we'd buy those BIG bags of cereal that were on the bottom of the cereal shelves. I remember the commercial on a man sorta squatting/hunched down as he walked down the cereal isle to show you were their cereal was at. I LOVE fruity pebbles!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am totally with you on the Cinnamon Toast Crunch! It is SOOO good!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch but I can't allow myself to eat them so I settle for Special K Blueberry! However, I usually eat yogurt for breakfast!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love some cereal, but don't eat it. I like all of them really...esp cinnamon toast crunch and honey nut cheerios! yum

    ReplyDelete
  28. That looks like our cereal stash! I can only stand eating cereal MAYBE once a week. T could eat it every morning and possibly for multiple meals in one day. My favorites are definitely Reese's Puffs and Cinnamon Toast Cruch.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow! That's a lot of cereal!
We're moving Thursday (finally!) and went through the pantry today too. We have a lot of food to finish off or else we have to throw it out, but no cereal at-the-moment sadly. :|

Hubby's favorite is Captain Crunch, and I'm all about Cookie Crisp.

    ReplyDelete
  30. That sure is a lot of cereal!

My hubby used to like to eat Rice Krispies Treat cereal but I never see it on the shelves anymore.

  31. This post made me laugh, as I'm trying to hunt down hotels for our impromptu vacation to Monterey Bay next weekend. Your childhood sounds like how I am with Ava. She mostly has kashi brand cereal, with the exception of cheerios and a few others. She found a stale bag of lucky charms and thought she hit the jackpot. As for my favorite (which I don't eat often because of the fat), Quaker Natural Oatmeal and Crackliin oat bran. Delish!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have to say after getting older I like Koshis' Honey Sunshine cereal. They tend to get soggy faster but they are so good (organic too!). When I was younger it was Oatmeal or Eggs, though I will always have a warm spot for Honey Bunches of Oats (p.s I guess I like Honey!)

    ReplyDelete
  33. i sure do that is a good selection of cereal!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I LOVE Cinnamon Toast Crunch! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love Kix. So simple, with just a hint of sweetness. I also really love Cheerios with banana slices. And the plain Cap'n Crunch - it's good with crunch berries, but the original is SOOOO tasty!

Oh! And Grape Nuts! I absolutely love Grape Nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wow...loved to see all those stacked up that way...it sure must be fun to have a variety of these...I like munching on them without the milk, especially choco flavored...they come handy whenever I need a quick snack!

Seeing your shelf, I am going to stack mine for summers too!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I definitely go Kookoo for some Cocoa Puffs! Darn that chocolately cereal, it'll be the death of me... I try to stick with Honey Bunches of Oats with Strawberries or Honey Nut Cheerios...but sometimes you have to give in to the little kid in you :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lucky Charms!! I love the sugary cereal too!! Its so good!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch too! It is my fave sugary splurge!

I love Cheerios--mulit-grain, honey nut, or the new chocolate ones are my fave!

Oh, and I have a hubby who thinks he still a kid too when it comes cereal!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My FAVORITE cereal is Cinnamon Toast Crunch! I'm actually quite sad cause I just finished my box last night :-( I'll have to stock up again the next time I go to the store! I LOVE CEREAL! I can eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

    ReplyDelete
  41. My favorite "good" cereal is Wheaties. My favorite "sugary" cereal is Lucky Charms.

I love cereal and could eat it for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  42. You and U must have been separated at birth I am TELLING YOU... OK Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my fav--I ALWAYS buy the huge box, but mix 1/2 of that with 1/2 of Honey Nut Cheerios and I swear it's the BEST mixture EVER-- sounds weird, but amazingly delicious!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. All of those sound delicious to me! I dont allow myself to eat fun cereal anymore though :(

    ReplyDelete
  44. This is hilarious! How did you get a picture of my pantry??? LOL.

My hubby eats Honey Bunches of Oats, but he also eats Coco Puffs and Lucky Charms.

    Silly boys.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh I just cleaned out my pantry a couple weeks ago- it was great to have it all done!
My favorite cereal (at the moment) is Special K, Chocolaty Delight!

    ReplyDelete
  46. When I was little, my parents never let us eat "sugary" cereals. So I knew only Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Wheaties... the boring ones.
Now I love Special K and Crispex. Yummy!

  47. It's an early Christmas for my husband when Peanut Butter Crunch goes on sale. :-)

And me? I'm like an old man; I LOVE Shredded Wheat...the big kind that comes wrapped in paper!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Used to be my FAVORITE! It probably still is, but my body can't take that kind of sugar anymore! Ah, the good old days...

    ReplyDelete
  49. For me it's a tie between Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. MMMMMMM yummo!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I LOVE lucky Charms and cinnamon toast crunch!

    ReplyDelete
  51. That is A LOT of cereal!! My husband makes oats...or he calls it muesli. He makes a lot and it lasts him quite a while! I am not a big cereal fan these days.
We decided this weekend we NEED a pantry of some sorts. It is now in the works! yey! I refuse to buy much food because there is no place to put it! :) Looks, like I may win this little battle by getting the pantry I want in exchange for food!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yummy and that is too cute! I love the sugary cereals but since I'm trying to be good I stick to the grains and Joe's O's. That is a lot of fun cereal though, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  53. that's hilarious!!!

i love kashi -- honey almond crunch :o)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Looks like my husbands cereal shelf! He is the same way. His favorite os Captn' Crunch Berries. What grown man eats that? He also loves cocoa puffs. AND eats his cereal out of a giant bowl...like a popcorn bowl! lol....oh well :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I love Special K and granola cereals, but if I had to pick a sweet one, it'd be Fruity Pebbles. I am fond of carrying baggies of Honey Nut Cheerios in my tote bag everywhere I go, though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. I am a boring cereal person, Cheerios all the way! Happy Monday!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I totally just cleaned my pantry out too! I even found a new box of bisquik! I had a craving for Cinnamon Toast Crunch last week and I had to give in and buy a box, otherwise I'm the only cereal eater in our house.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm a new reader; I linked up last week for Wishful Wednesday and I'm loving your blog! My fiance is the same way, he loves sugary cereal!

I love multi-grain cheerios but I have to say he got me hooked on Golden Grahams!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Aaahhhh! I LOVE sugary, sweet, totally unhealthy cereal!! But, I don't dare buy it...if I bought a box of Fruity Pebbles (my favorite), I would eat the ENTIRE box in one night!
So, I have to stick to Special K (which, by the way, are really good with marshmallows--and Skim milk, of course:).

    ReplyDelete
  60. I was only allowed to have shredded wheat and plain cheerios growing up--ICK!!

I love Fruity Pebbles and Golden Grahams...yum! Cereal is my favorite food :)

  61. Oh how I am LOVING how your pretty blog looks on my new MAC! Yeah for my new MAC!!!!
    Love it!
That old Dell had me in a fog!!!!
Oh how I do love me some Lucky Charms...but my favorite cereal of all time...is a Swiss Muesli!
Oh how I do adore Muesli!
ANd you can buy it by the scoop at Central Market and Whole Foods...but it has sooooo much fat and cals. Gonna have to try me some Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
Oh...Kelsey...can you email me about SKYPE!
Let me know what I need to do!
I think I will pass out when I get to see the faces of my parents! xxooxx ;o)

  62. hahaha your hubby is my kinda guy lol!! i love me some yummy sugary cereal!!! however- i generally choose to eat fiber one or something along those lines for a nice healthy breakfast :) otherwise i eat 5 bowls and im still starving 30 minutes later haha. CTC is still my snack cereal of choice...TOTALLY with you on that one- YUM!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. um, LOVE sugary kids cereals! my FAVS are cinnamon toast crunch and frosted flakes! ohhh and golden grahams. but the thing i might even like MORE than the actual cereal is the milk that you get to drink at the end. OH so sugary and sweet, mmmmmmm!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. i am in shock over all of that cereal! we typically have 2-3 boxes at any given time, but nothing like those sugary lovies. If I could I would have some sugary deliciousness in my pantry, but the hubs says no! ha. we have honey bunches of oats, honey nut cheerios...you see a pattern here..ha!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Lucky Charms or those Reeses Puffs would be my fav but all that crap is soo bad for you....so when I eat cereal its only Special K or gluten free stuff. I try to only eat eggs and fruit in the mornings now though because cereal in general is not good for you (being married to someone in the health industry has its ups and downs since I want to eat bad sugary stuff but I also want to eat healthy, ha).

  67. LOL, I was just having this conversation with my Husband Sunday. We had just gotten back from the grocery with an additional two more boxes of cereal. After putting them away I said, "You would think we have five kids by the amount cereal in our pantry!" We have everything from Fiber One to Fruit Loops. There's like 8 boxes! Totally ridiculous, but I did enjoy Fruit Loops this morning ;)-

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have to clean out our pantry too. It is a MESS.

I love that your hubby still enjoys the good cereals. I still eat Kix and Honey Nut Cheerios and I love Frosted Flakes but try to stay away.

  69. lol...the sugary cereal is so much like my husband. His favorite is cinnamon toast crunch. I'm boring, and I like Cheerios. My mom didn't buy us sugary cereal growing up, so I guess I just never got into liking it
