Not a fan ....

This vitamin tastes really yummy and is easy to swallow, but seriously, not a fan. This little sucker has made me nauseous for the last month......

Every.Single.Day.

I was beginning to think I was pregnant with the 30 minute daily occurrence, but luckily a friend enlightened me today on my ignorance.  I was talking to a girlfriend today and mentioned I didn't feel well, and she  oddly asked if I take a daily vitamin.  I said yes, and she said a lot of the times vitamins do that if you don't eat enough with it.  Well, I rarely eat breakfast, except for a FiberOne bar here and there, and it makes total sense now.  For the first time in my life, I have been religiously taking a multivitamin, but I don't think I can continue it if I am going to feel like I have morning sickness everyday.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Am I the only person who wasn't aware a vitamin does this~?!

  4. YES! If I take a vitamin and dont immediately eat something substantial, I get sick...like late for work, really sick. That's why I quit taking a multivitamin too! I tried to take them with dinner for awhile, but just seem to forget...

  9. YES! SO bad actually, one time at my old office, I had to go up to the sick room and lay down! I had the sweats and actually GOT SICK! I do not eat a lot for breakfast, so I take mine at lunch now!

  10. I am the worst vitamin taker... I would take them at night before bed while I was pregnant, but only beause I HAD TO! They always make me sick.

I promise to play in Wishful Wednesday next week... we don't have pets!! xoxo

  11. Ugh. I've had that happen with vitamins too! No fun!

  12. It's happened to me too! For a while, I'd take them right before bed, but then someone told me that you are supposed to take them during the day, so that your body absorbs them while you are up and active, so I'd take it in the morning, but then feel sick. Now I take them right after I eat lunch and I haven't had a problem!

  13. Your blog layout is darling! I got sick one time too taking it without food. Try taking it with your lunch or at dinner when you have plenty of food in your system.

  14. Vitamins make me sick if I don't eat with them, too! So I only take a vitamin when I eat breakfast. (Which means I don't take them very often on the weekend, haha) Maybe you could take them at lunch time instead?

  15. Love the new layout! I did not know that about the vitamins-thanks for the info!

  17. They totally make me sick. I have to make sure I have plenty of food in my stomach, so I take them at night!

  18. Fun new layout!! Ive personally never had that problem, but know a few who have.

  19. I did know that (well, because as a pharmacist I'm supposed to know! LOL) I always tell people to try taking them at bedtime with a snack. Usually food helps the situation.

    Great layout, btw!

  20. YES. I had the same issue, and I was so bummed because I thought I was being a good girl and finally taking vitamins after 27 years but I had to stop because my breakfast is a latte. Bad I know. Grrr!

  21. I have to eat something if I take any kind of pill, especially multivitamins. I learned the hard way in high school that these pills do a number on your belly if taken with nothing.

  22. I had heard that and if I don't eat much they give me indigestion. Now you know! Those look yummy, though. I HATE the neon yellow Multi-Vitamin that I take. It's like swallowing a horse pill! Love your new blog design!

  23. I'm love love loving the new layout girl!!

And I've heard of this naseous with vitamins. I had a friend who got the same way.

  24. I've heard of this before. I take mine at night and haven't noticed any issues. I hope you feel better!

  25. Girl, I have never taken a multi-vitamin, but I can totally relate...I can't believe I am admitting this to a complete stranger and the entire WWW but I started eating FiberOne bars thinking they were so good and a great breakfast suppliment. Well, I started getting the toots and like you, I ate them for 3 weeks thinking, "WHAT IN THE WORLD!!" I was telling my husband about it on the way to church one Sunday (while eating my F1 bar for breakfast no less!!!) and he said, "Do you think it could be your new favorite snack??

    I'm an idiot.

  26. I have to take my vitamins with food if I take them in the morning. Otherwise, I get totally queasy. Just eat them with some fiber and/or protein (or really, anything!) and you should be a-okay. If not, I'd try to find a different vitamin!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've felt this too, and someone told me the same thing. You have to make sure to eat before you take it. That should stop the nausea.

  28. I do gummy vitamins and have started to take them with my lunch. No more belly aches for me. Your new layout is fab!

  29. That used to happen to me ALL THE TIME! But now I take One Source prenatal vitamin (not because i'm pregnant, they are good for your hair and nails!) and I have never gotten sick from them!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Vitamins do that do me all the time, if I don't eat enough with them it can actually make you vomit :( I hope you start feeling better soon!!!

LOVE the new LOOK!!! I'm super J :)

  31. I didn't know that vitamins could make your tummy hurt! But, it is sometimes hard to remember/want to take vitamins every day! I used to take Flinstones, but my husband thought it was time to grow up...so instead, I got chewable Centrum multi-vitamins! ;) It's a pretty good compromise!

    p.s. thanks for stopping by my blog! I love yours! {new follower!}

  32. I have the same problem. Try taking it after lunch... Love your new layout too!

  33. My prenatals always made me sick. So I just took them right before bed and then slept through the yuckiness!

  34. I feel your pain! I used to take my vitamins in the am with OJ - ugh - not good with hypoglycemia. I'm like lots of the other comments in that I take my vitamins at night after dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  35. yes, if I don't eat something before I take my vitamins I would feel sick all morning. And I am going to have to check this brand out because I always have trouble swallowing mine! xoxo KAG

  36. I knew prenatal vitamins did that {by learning the hard way} but no idea that regular ones did! Hope your having a great day! = )

  37. Yes - Yes, Yes. On the way to work one day I had to pull over and throw up in the mall parking lot. Talk about a "not a fan" experience. I started taking mine with dinner...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Funny enough the same rings true for Prenatal vitamins when you actually are pregs. I know SO many women who couldn't take them just like you can't take a multi! So lame :(

  39. Sometimes iron can make you sick to your stomach. I'd like to know how much iron is in one of those drinks--I've never had one. Seems like a healthy way to start off the day...but if it's making you sick, better stick with the Fiber One bar and switch back to the Flintstones. ;)

  40. I take mine at night with dinner so I can sleepoff the nausea, glad you found the culprit!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Someone might have already said this, but try taking them before bed. I take mine right before bed and it makes a world of difference for me!

    ReplyDelete
  42. HI, just found your blog and love it. Same exact thing happened to me with vitamins, complete with thinking I was pregnant! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. ugh--found this out the hard way! I usually eat breakfast though, so that helps. i'm so bad about actually taking vitamins though!

  44. This happens with most vitamins that contain even traces of zinc. And most do.

Zinc on an empty stomach (or even a not full-enough stomach) makes you nauseous.

I had this happen to me too, but once I took it with lunch, and not breakfast(where I never eat enough to fight the nauseous) it went away.

    Hope it helps.

    Also, love the new look!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yep...I've definitely had this happen, and it's so awful! I also thought I was pregnant for several days and then stopped taking that morning vitamin and then all was well again!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Vitamins do that to me too. I never want to take them and my husband gets so mad at me for not taking them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am totally familiar with vitamin nausea. Some have suggested 1)with a meal or 2)right before bed. #1 sounds like it might work. I'd hate to wake in the mid of the night feeling awful. I think it's related to the iron. I've just discovered Fiber One bars and find them perfect for my 2-3pm munchies that hit me daily. PB oats are my fave. Tho have learned that more than one a day is NOT a good thing... nuff said! I'm going to change that setting you suggested tomorrow. And I love the new look. Tres cute :)

  48. many times it's because you are getting too much iron. try a daily vitamin without as much iron (or with none) and that should help!

  49. So... my computer has been so rude and fussy all day. If I already posted this comment, so sorry for the repeat. I have never gotten a tummy ache, and I don't eat breakfast in the morning. My secert vitamin (don't laugh..)...? Disney Princess Chewable Gummies. Yup. Love them. They are so tasty and my doctor actually recommended them! Try them out!! You can get them at Target or even the grocery store... yummy!!

  50. I've been taking a multivitamin for awhile and wondered in the beginning why it kept making me sick. I was so ill if I ever took it on an empty stomach. I don't have any issues if I take it after I've eaten.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well this is a little different but taking my Prenatal REALLY triggered my morning sickness. For the first few months I had to avoid it in general and then once the nausea calmed down a bit I take it at night now. If you're that sensitive to vitamins making you nauseous, definitely keep that in mind when you become pregnant, it might help when you think you're body is revolting against you!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, bad nausea if I take a vitamin on an empty stomach. :( You have to take all vitamins with food.

OOh I did your Wishful Wednesday. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. That happened to me so I started taking mine after dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This happens to me if I don't have enough food in my stomach so I started taking it after lunch and now I feel much better!

  55. I found this out the hard way! I use to not enough breakfast with my vitamins! BAD DEAL! Loving the new background!!! :) Make website india

  56. Yep, I have gotten sick from not eating before taking vitamins and also from taking the wrong vitamins too. It's okay that you didn't think about that, a friend ended up reminding me of this as well!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I always take my vitamins after dinner since that's usually my biggest meal!

    ReplyDelete
  58. it always happened to me. this is horrific and gross but i once *got sick* with nothing but orange juice on my stomach - on the side of the road. not pleasant. now i do the viactiv chocolate chewables. they don't bother me at all.

  59. I just discovered your blog, and have been scrolling through your past posts trying to get to know you :) I had to comment when I saw this because the exact same thing happened to me! I couldn't figure out why I was getting sick every morning, and it was these vitamins! I have since learned that most vitamins need to be taken WITH food so as not to upset the stomach :)
